The Kinney family settled in Van Buren County, MI in the 1830's in an area known as the "Kinney Settlement". Lorania Gates Kinney (1808 - 1850) married Horace Hale Adams (1805 - 1847) in Milan, OH about 1826.

Newsletter #14-- 2006 : (PDF). The feature article this year was a compilation of letters and a diary of the family of Isaac Leonard and Emily (Adams) Bates. Thanks to Bob Brown for transcribing the diary and letters and Barbara Gale for adding text notes and identifying the people mentioned in the documents.
